Best ways to get rid of “Air Pollution”!
Air pollution has become a global phenomenon, but these 3
countries are on the top list of having the most polluted cities in the world.
They are India, Pakistan, and China. The situation is so critical that as per
WHO only 12 percent of the cities meet the air quality standards as prescribed
by them. Air pollution has a hazardous effect on both indoor and outdoor air
and is vulnerable to all age groups creating severe health problems. Hence we
need to take the right and necessary steps to reduce air pollution and also
take precautions to stay safe. Here are the best ways to tackle air pollution.
1)Get mask immediately
This is the first step to avoid polluted air entering your
body, where the right kind of mask which is suitable for you, the air has
already crossed the danger level in some cities, so on an immediate basis you
need to buy a durable and efficient mask if you are a working professional or a
college student. Covering your mouth with handkerchief or dupatta will not work
anymore.
2)Stay Inside
This is especially for old age group people and small
children. Environment outside is not safe and hence it is best to stay indoors
if you don’t have an emergency situation where you have to go out. Attach air
purifier in your home, so that air coming from outside will get purified and
will not cause damage to your health. Children and old people are more prone to
airborne diseases as they have a lower immune system than young adults.
3)Drink sufficient water.
Drinking water regularly becomes extremely important as it
will help to eliminate toxic waste from the body, make sure you drink water
that is purified and have it in sufficient quantity. It is recommended that you
have at least 8 to 10 glasses every day.
4)Go green
The best way to beat air pollution is to plant more trees.
Trees will absorb the carbon dioxide present in the air and change it to
oxygen, thus purifying the air. It will act as a natural purifier. This can be
done both indoors and outdoors. You can have plants at your home if that is
possible for you. The main reason for air pollution is we do not have
sufficient trees on our planet, so it is necessary to take this action on a
global level.
5)Dispose of waste products in an eco-friendly way
Our disposals should be handled properly, please do not burn
your disposals, the air quality is already very bad and if you are burning
waste, it would like adding fuel to the fire. There are many effective ways to
handle disposals such as composting etc. We need to understand and minimize
hazardous products such as plastics which are causing more harm to the
environment than us, if not handled properly we will only pay the price for it,
in fact, to be true we are already paying it.
6)Check air pollution levels daily
Due to invent in technology there are many news channel
updates and apps which will help you to check air pollution levels regularly,
these apps calculate based on ppm (parts per million). They are categorized
into 3 levels that are very dangerous, severe and moderate. If you see “very
dangerous” in your place, please make sure you follow the above steps
carefully, before time runs out of your hands.
7)Drive electric vehicle or use public transport.
If you need to go out for work, make sure you use public
transport or use an electric vehicle for commuting, this is a very important
step to tackle air pollution, If we need to reduce it, we must first get to
know what is causing air pollution. Gas emissions from the vehicle are one of
the major reason for air pollution. They contain carbon-monoxide, lead
particles and other dangerous chemicals that get mixed with air causing air
pollution. So it is best to minimize the use of vehicles.
8)Consult a doctor
If you are showing symptoms like difficulty in breathing,
severe headache, dizziness, then it is best to consult a doctor and get it
checked out. Please do not ignore these symptoms as many people tend to do it,
because health always comes first if you are healthy then only you would be
able to take yourself and other members of your family.
Air pollution has increased to a much greater level anyone
can imagine, blaming other countries or other people will not resolve it. We
need to understand and take proper measures so that we can reduce air pollution
to a greater extent. If leaders are not willing to understand and play the
blame game, we as people need to understand this and tackle it together, be
alert and stay healthy.
